For the Children was originally an exercise in the study of Estonian classical composer Arvo Pärt’s tintinnabuli style. This simple style was influenced by chant music and the overtone serious of bells. In a true if you give a mouse a cookie experience, the idea of a set of variations, thought to only take a couple of months, ended up taking a year. Over that year, Joey Brink recorded the piece on the carillon at the University of Denver, Caleb and Aaron performed the piece live with piano, Ableton, and theremin for the celebration of Piano Day 2024, and Caleb repeatedly rewrote string accompaniments and eventually studied the book Gradus ad Parnassum by Johann Joseph Fux (a work J.S. Bach, the Mozarts, Haydn, and Beethoven all profited from), before finally writing an passable string part.

The possibilities for remixes are endless, but here are seven we hope you enjoy.

*To Apple fans, sorry this isn’t available to you. The word “remix” has a technical meaning to Apple, and we couldn’t come to an understanding on the album credits without changing the album’s title and it was too late for such things.
